The problem

Every year your board turns over, and most of what the outgoing officers know leaves with them. Logins, vendor contacts, the reason a policy exists. The new board spends its first six months rediscovering it.

When to run it

Start 60 days before officers change. Hold the handoff meeting in the last 30 days, while both boards still answer email.

The steps

  1. Build the handoff list

List every role changing hands. For each one, write down who owns it today and who owns it next term.
